Quality, LICENSED child care, in a play based, child led,
home-away-from-home setting.

Everyone in this house, feels like a valued member of the family, whether they actually live here, or just spend their weekdays here.
My name is Rebecca (Becca), and I have been a professional day home educator here in Lethbridge since 2011, and casually, much longer than that. My program is licensed, which means the affordability grants reduce parent fees at the source. I hold a current ECE Level 1 certificate with the province of Alberta, have clean criminal record check, driver's abstract and CFSA check. I've also completed the certificate in Flight: Alberta's Early Learning Curriculum Framework through MacEwan University.
My day home is smoke, drug and alcohol free, childproof, cozy, and inviting. At FantasticTots Day home, I pride myself on ensuring your child feels like a cherished member of the family. With a focus on play-based learning, I help young people learn vital skills like empathy, problem-solving, love of literacy, creative thinking and independence, while fostering an environment of compassion, love and support. I'm not just here for the children though! I strive to offer an environment that is also welcoming and supportive to parents, siblings, and others important to the children that I serve. My goal is to support the whole child, and that means also supporting the family as holistically as possible. If something is outside of my scope of practice, or capabilities, I will help families find resources!
In our home, we love animals, and as such have several pets of different types!. A couple of small dogs live here. Both are gentle, well trained and LOVE children. Also living here are 3 kitties who are well used to children and a cockatiel named Charlie who likes to sing with us. All interactions between children and the pets are closely supervised to prevent oopsies, as I am always mindful that the pets are still ANIMALS no matter how well behaved and trained they are. I find that the pets are actually a very valuable empathy and compassion teaching aid, as they each bring different energy and engagement levels. If at any time I ever feel supervision of interaction is compromised for some reason, the bird goes in his cage, and everyone else with fur goes either downstairs or outside, so that I can keep everyone, human and critter alike, safe.
I am an avid home cook, so meals and snacks here are always prepared with the freshest ingredients available. Will you find chicken fingers and fries on the menu at times? Sure, but not machine made cutlets. We go for breaded filets and sweet potato fries, baked in the oven and served with a side salad instead! I've always believed that children need quality nutrition to fuel their brains, and I'm a foodie, so it's a match made in heaven! Whether your child is here for 2 snacks and lunch, or just an after school snack, rest assured, their nutritional needs are being met, with the tastiest options available! At this point I do not charge any additional nutrition fees and I will try to maintain that as best I can. The caliber of some meals may need to be adjusted, but balanced meals and snacks will remain continue to be offered at no additional cost for the immediate future. Donations of fruit and snack items are welcome to help offset some increased costs.
Our family would love to get to know yours and see if we could be the right child care "fit" for your needs. For the safety and confidentiality of current clients, initial visits to the day home are conducted exclusively after-hours. Once we've met and determine each other to be a good fit, I advise my current clients that we will have a visitor over to get a feel for how the group interacts together. If this goes well, we will sign a contract, and book your child's future attendance!
Contact me today if you're interested in securing a child care space for your child. I don't have spaces come available very often, and they go fast when they do!
